The passport authority or PSK approves applicant who carry
Municipal Corporation issued birth certificate. But this rule is governed if
the applicant is born on or after January 1989. Those who are born before this date, they can show their school
leaving certificate as a birth proof at PSK.
As aforementioned, the Municipal Corporation of the urban
region issues this certificate. The applicants living in the rural regions can
apply for it with Gram Sewak, Panchayat Secretaries and Karmi. Even, some
school teachers in the states like Mizoram can issue it.
It can be applied at zero cost within 21 days of
birth. Later, this service would be paid. Its processing takes around 7 days to
a few weeks. For its online registration, the candidate can go to the
government website. Get registered and fill the form online. Subsequently,
he/she would have to visit the MC office in person with the requisite
documents. The acceptable documents are ration card, school leaving
certificate, documents of hospital or para-medical dispensary and an affidavit
attested by SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate).
